Stuck sink faucet stem
My daughter is trying to remove a stem from her bathroom sink faucet that is dripping to check/replace the washer. She was having trouble getting a grip on the nut below the blue section shown in the picture. I gave her a spark plug wrench to try and she was able to get it onto the nut. However, even though she has tried WD-40 on it, she can’t get it to budge. The entire assembly below the sink is turning. Where below the sink should she be able to apply counter pressure? Faucet wrench? Remove the escutcheon to find another nut for opposition?

The gold escutcheon piece should be removable at this point of disassembly exposing some of the valve body that may be used to hold the valve to remove the stem. If that is not doable, then some tool (pipe wrench, locking pliers, slip joint pliers. ratcheting bar clamp, etc) will have to be applied from underneath the sink to secure the valve to remove the stem. This requires a need for a second person. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I’ll pass the info on to my daughter.
