sounds like a fun day with the flyrod glad you got on some crappie congrats on the day’s catch!!!
Started the day fishing for bream with the flyrod and wasn’t disappointed. Found fish still on the beds in deeper water and also caught fish close to the banks. Caught lots of small fish but also caught some nicer size gills.
Also found some good shellcrackers bedding in 4 to 6′ depths. Biggest shell of the day was little over 10”. Lot of fun fighting the bream and shells on the flyrod and a top water popper.
By 1:00 the sun was high in the sky and the bream were getting spooked so I put away the flyrod and pulled out the long rod for some crappie fishing. Total catch on bream and shells were 81.
By 1:30 I had the crappie rods out but the crappie were a little hard to find. Looked shallow and found some short fish in 10′ depth. Moved out to deeper water and started fish the river channel. With the water so clear I has around 70 to 80′ of line out using 1/16 jigs. Did catch better fish in the deeper water. The Old School Yellow was the color jig they wanted today. Stopped fishing at 3:00 and it had got hot hot hot. Total crappie caught was 16 with 7 keepers.
Great day to be on the lake. I would like to see some rain to stain the water a little, maybe this weekend.Thumbs Up

Jimmy, I have an older Martin 8′ rod 6/7 weight line.
Got to take the front rod holders off the boat next time, LOL I had about 60′ of line out working the fly and on a back swing the rod holders caught the line and in return the fly caught me in the back. Was a interesting few minutes DohRofl.

Quality fish and pictures.
I need to repair the flyrod and do some damage on Greenwood. It seems like those little guys will hit the fly before the big ones get a chance to move towards it lol. Glad to see you found the fish though.
It sounds like you had an action packed day. Short fish may not fill the creel but they sure make the day more exciting and productive. Nice catch and report/pics.

Glad to see you got to spend an enjoyable day on the water again. Sounds like the brims were there in full force and was biting too. Finding crappie that wants to bite in the middle of the day is a chore in itself…and it looks like you did alright with them too. Nice catch! Congrats on a good day on the water and thanks for sharing the pictures.
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
