My husband and I are always on the lookout for new places to kayak and decided to give Lake Redmond a try. The following are the pros and cons:
PROS: For being located in a fairly populated area, the lake doesn’t have the volume of people that you’d find at other parks. It was really a pleasure! In fact, we went on a Saturday and you would have thought it was a midweek day. There’s a nice boat ramp that places you at about the halfway point on the lake. We went further down the road and put in there, where fishermen use. Due to the size of the lake, the county could have really developed the shorelines, but was very wise to limit it to keeping it natural. Consequently, the park isn’t “loved to death” like some of the state parks, which are over run with folks on the weekends. It also allows nature to shine its beautiful face. In the span of two hours, we saw a bald eagle, a great blue and little blue herons, egrets, a bunch of turtles and an osprey-not to mention the fish jumping out of the water to catch the water bugs. Though they allow electric motors, we didn’t see one such boat during our visit. Folks seem to prefer their pleasure or fishing kayaks instead. Because the lake is sheltered by hillsides on the edges, you don’t get the winds that you find on some other lakes. Very calm waters! Finally, the lake is quite large. We only covered half of it during our two hour visit. We’ll be back to visit the other half soon!
CONS: I wish the expressway didn’t run along some of the lake. It make it noisier than we would have liked-not to mention seeing the cars as well.
This is really a gem of a park! There are hiking trails as well. There’s also its sister lake-Lake Williams, which is a bit smaller and perhaps a bit more quiet? We’ll be trying that out as well.

Beautiful lake, had a great hike all the way around Redman and Williams. A couple of tunnels under I-83 were very wet but otherwise a nice walk with good water views. I-83 is pretty loud and runs right thru the park.

Nice local trails. Enjoy the trails around the lake. Run up and down the huge hill. Kick your own but! Enjoy!

If you have an hour or three, don’t miss this treasure of York Co. the Trails will take you around Lake Redman and Lake Williams, part of the Tork Co reservoir system. You can choose from a shorter, more challenging hike through up a hill and through the switchbacks in the woods or a flatter, longer hike around Lake Williams. Fishing, paddle boats, wildlife abound!

I enjoyed my visit here but wasn’t able to spend as much time as I wanted due to other responsibilities. I recommend it.

Hi I was wondering is it ok to visit the Lake right now because of the virus?

How is the water level- ok for kayaking?

Is there charcoal grills there

Can you use gas powered boats in lake Redmen?

No you can not

I am looking for some where to fish. Is lake Redman open in Dec. My phone is 3044332210

If you have your own boat or are fishing off the banks it is. Must have a PA fishing license though.

Does it cost anything to enter the park & if so how much.

No it doesn’t cost anything to enter. Only if you want to rent a boat.

Cost anything to launch a boat and is it open certain times

If you have your own boat, no. It’s open dusk to dawn. There are some midnight boat rides. That does cost money. Maybe $30 per couple and less of you bring your own boat.
