How Often Should I Charge My Motorcycle, ATV or Boat Battery?

Any type of lead acid battery should always be left in a fully charged condition. Having done that, you should either charge your battery every 30 days or so, or consider getting a smart battery charger to maintain your battery all the time. These new ‘smart’ chargers will hold the voltage at its prime voltage, while reducing the current to almost nil, thus preventing overcharge even when left on for months at a time. A motorcycle, boat, and ATV battery will self discharge over time, even while not in use or connected to anything, thus the benefit of constant maintenance charger.

If you have charged the battery and it’s not holding enough power to start you motorcycle, ATV or boat, then browse our selection of powersport batteries:

  • Motorcycle Batteries
  • ATV Batteries
  • Boat/Marine Batteries
    – AGM Boat Batteries
    – Gel Boat Batteries

if the battery is left on a smart charger all week between weekend rides that are two days, with two rides of about 3 hours each, will the battery become over charged or sulfate early?
