The Striped Bass (Striper)
The North American striped bass (Morone saxatilis), also called Atlantic striped bass, striper, linesider, rock or rockfish, is an anadromous Perciformes fish of the family Moronidae found naturally along the Atlantic coast. It has also been extensively introduced into inland recreational fisheries across the U.S. due to its popularity. They are mostly a migratory fish that run between saltwater and freshwater although some fish will stay and live in freshwater year round. The largest specimen ever caught weighed in at 81.8 pounds. Stripers can be a little tricky to catch, as they are constantly on the move and act somewhat unpredictably. The flexibility of fishing from a boat with an experienced captain significantly increases your chances of landing one.
