Caught this monkfish at Jeffreys Ledge NH

Awesome catch. As someone who’s never caught them, is this something you pull up off the bottom with bait? Jigging?

Caught on the bottom with a 16oz diamond jig. Years fishing here and its the first one ive ever seen. Captain said I must have dropped the jig right in front of it since they just sit on the bottom and wait for a fish to swim by.

Its a charter boat out of seabrook. If I had enough for my own boat id try going for tuna lol.
