Sougayilang?

Anyone that shops for fishing gear on Amazon has likely seen at least one of their products. Its hard to see any reel or rod that isn’t sold by them on amazon now, you can see for yourself. Just search fishing on amazon. Anyways, has anyone bought one of their products before because I have never seen any in stores and I cannot find many reviews about their products online? They look nice in pictures, but the prices seem too good to be true.

My wife bought me one of their telescoping combos a couple years back as a gift. Poor thing didn’t know any better. The reel crapped the bed after like 2 trips out in saltwater (with post-use rinses). Every screw in the thing had rusted out and the metal washers in the drag stack were rusted out too.

The rod snapped trying to free a snag. I wasn’t even pulling that hard.

I would not recommend them.

I thought about giving a reel a try, just to find out. I figured it would probably end up being similar to like Piscifun or KastKing, but no clue. I’m sure I’ll end up getting one next year even though I don’t need anymore haha

Fishing vets will tell you to go with “trusted” brand names, when their preferred brand’s products come from the same manufacturer or manufacturing district in China. If you’re not trying to break the bank, or just starting out…just go with what fits your budget. Lots of people misuse telescopic rods or products that are cheap. Use them harshly, then criticize the lack quality based on price. Sougayilang would be the same price as other fishing equipment in retail stores, because all products sitting on shelves in brick and mortar stores are marked up based on how many hands it had to go through, to get to that shelf.

Also, almost all companies have some sort of return policy, so if you’re not happy, send it back. Amazon and eBay are good like that. Sougayilang is widely used overseas, most US anglers wouldn’t purchase sougayilang because…. let’s face it. Sougayilang is a strange company name, reminds one of products like “Daewoo” and “Kia” and “Hyundai” —— crappy name for crappy products.

Dude that’s simply not true. I have been using a $15 Shakespeare combo I bought for my daughter as a backup rod when I go saltwater fishing. That thing is definitely not intended for that at all. It is still going strong and as “smooth” as the day I bought it. The Sougayilang or “Plussinno” reel that I had didn’t even last a week.

I get avoiding being brand loyal. I bought a Quantum PT Reliance on a whim because a $100 sealed reel seemed too good to be true. And I hate Zebcos. It’s now my second favorite reel. But I’ve tested the same products he asked about, and they’re crap.

Sure that’s anecdotal, but guess what else they did. They started sending me free products in exchange for reviews on Amazon. Their stuff is junk and they use shady tactics to inflate their ratings on Amazon.

I have 3 of their spinning and 1 conventional. My saltwater spinning and conventional has lasted me 4 years so far
