Florida based grocery store, Publix, stopped selling all Russian-made inventory at the beginning of conflict and are now placing the inventory on clearance sale and donating the proceeds to Ukraine relief efforts. #bleedgreen #publix #ukrainestrong

That’s awesome Publix! More stores throughout America needs to follow this as well. It won’t bother me. Maybe H‑E‑B here in Texas will follow. Thank you for posting. I’ll show my local store manager! Never hurts to ask. Get rid of all orc merchandise. Yuck! Slava Ukraine

I don’t know how many Russian products are for sale at H-E-B since Texas grocery stores don’t sell liquor, but Spec’s should definitely do this!

It’s worth knowing that Ukraine once had a half-decent wine industry (I’m not sure how good the wine was, but they made a notable amount of it). But it was curtailed near the end of the Soviet era, by Soviet policies. It was reviving pretty well since the fall of the Soviet Union.

But then Russia took Crimea – where half of Ukraine’s wineries are located.

So, if you have a chance to get Ukrainian wine, give it a try and let us know how it is. And if Ukraine re-captures Crimea, then it might be able to have a sizable wine industry again.

They also sell Khor Vodka, made in Zaporizhia, Ukraine. Some of the best value-for-flavor stuff I’ve ever bought. Cheaper than mixer crap from russia, but flavor as good as Finnish stuff. 10/10

There’s a separate Publix liquor store. Legally, I don’t think they can sell hard liquor in regular grocery stores in Florida. So what you frequently see are Publix Liquor Stores that are next door to the regular grocery store. That’s where you’d get your hard liquor.

No, they have seperate liquor stores.

They successfully killed a proposed law that would have allowed liquor sales in grocery stores last year because they already have the built out liquor stores whereas most Walmarts, Albertsons, Fresh Market, Whole Food, Target, etc do not.

Is there any reason why Americans can’t by liquor in regular convince stores? Here in Germany any store can sell them. What’s the matter about those tabacco and liquor stores? I really don’t get it.

Most Publix have a separate liquor store attached to the side of the Publix building. Technically still one building but you have to exit the public store and walk into the liquor store from the front as if it’s a separate store. Makes it easiest for Publix to restock them from the back while having separate store fronts.

pretty sure whatever russian stock publix had has long been sold….

Even before this, they’ve just been a solid grocery store. They pay their employees better than other grocers and from a customer side, the shopping experience is pleasant and the bakery section is fantastic.

In most of the places I’ve lived there were a few comparable regional grocery store options. Florida is not like that, you’d probably end up going there anyway. Publix is like 40% of the grocery store market share. Walmart is 2 with 25% and target is 3 with 7%.

They are quite dominant. You have to seek out the other options, whereas there are a bajillion Publix stores every where.

They are okay… certainly overrated, but at the same time, quite serviceable.

publix’ bakery has a really good cannoli i recommend giving it a try if you do visit

Came here to say just this. I will forgo our usual Costco stock up with every Florida trip and buy everything at Publix instead. How amazing. Respect.

Get a sub sandwich, theirs are fantastic. The chicken tender sub is popular but I prefer the ultimate.
