Flex Seal as a repair??
I see this all the time. People will literally try to flex seal a leaking packing nut on a shutoff valve. The whole valve is just a black mess. I’ll just tighten the nut and leave them with their creation.
WHY DIDN’T THE ANGLE STOP SHUT OFF? WHY IS THIS CALL SO EXPENSIVE….Well sir…..
I can’t think of any substance you can buy from an infomercial that isn’t a shoddy fix.
As a temporary fix in that situation I use a two part epoxy puddy. I had a three inch copper drain line that was worn out and leaked on a transition between the copper and cast iron. It was in a tight place and re-caulking the lead wasn’t an option. The building was a year from renovation so I slapped some puddy on it and it held until they renovated.
Definitely lazy DIY’er shit. It looks copper and is threaded. I would cut it unthread that flex seal garbage and put a new male in with dope and sweat it back together.
Have any of you seen/heard of putting flex seal on pipes? Or is that just a shoddy way of “fixing” it. Here is a better view
