Phyliss Speer is a Retired Education Program Specialist for Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. She may be best known for her appearance on AETN’s television program “Arkansas Outdoors” for 20 years. She now appears on “Cooking on the Wild Side.
A native Arkansan, Phyliss Speer grew up in southwest Arkansas in the small town of Amity. She was a tomboy, hunting and fishing with her dad at a very early age. She learned to fly fish on the Caddo River. Speer now lives on a mountain top overlooking the confluence of the Buffalo National River and the White River at Buffalo City in the Ozarks. She shares the good life with her husband and buddy, Sam, as well as two manx cats, Larato and Nandi, a Jack-Rat speckled dog, Biscuit and British Lab, Gracie and a flock of chickens.
Since retiring, she has become active in community projects including the food bank and projects at ASU. But spends a great deal of time in Oregon, playing with her twin grandson and traveling with Sam.
