I purchased a new Symmons Temptrol shower valve only to be shipped a shower valve with some used parts, such as the diverter handle which clearly had mineral buildup on it from prior use. The valve body and other parts were new and never used but all the pastic bags were opened at some point prior to shipping. It wasn’t a big deal for me since i was repairing my current Symmons Temptrol so i gutted the new one and used those parts to fix my old one. I also replaced the chrome parts on my old one so it’d look like new. If i had been installing this valve as brand new in my house i would’ve returned it but since i just used some parts out of the “new” one it wasn’t a big deal.
